So with my reviewing of Mystic Force done, I decided to rewatch Power Rangers Jungle Fury. Overall, I think that Jungle Fury is a pretty good season. Don't get me wrong, the first few episodes are terrible but as the series progressed, I thought the season was getting pretty good especially during the time Grizzaka came in and RJ became the Wolf Ranger. I think this was due to the face that this was due to the 2008 Writers Strike and new writers came in to write for the series. Rumors circulated that previous writer of the franchise Judd Lynn came in under an alias to write for the series which show cause the writing was a big improvement.
Changes
Overall, I think Jungle Fury concepts and story is a great one but it has much that could be improved upon.
Masters
One thing that should have been more integral to the plot was the Beast Masters. Most of the masters were only seen in their introduction episode and the final episode. I think that if they didn't want to spend money on hiring actors to be on the set for a large amount of episodes, they should have used the Animal Form suit used in the final episode. To explain why the Masters looked liked this, they could have said something under the lines of they were changed into these forms while trying to seal away Dai Shi during the first Beast War.
The Overlords
Another group of masters that I felt were undeveloped were the Overlords. I liked that these three were teaching Jarrod to further his potential but they kind of felt underused. After Grizzaka came in, Carnisoar and Jellica were pretty much turn into yes men to Grizzaka. I think it would have been an interesting concept to use the Overlords fight alongside or accompany certain Rinshi Beasts that fall under their element.
Jarrod/Dai Shi Relationship
One things that seemed confusing to me was the who Jarrod./Dai Shi concept. Was Jarrod possessed by Dai Shi or was he influenced by him? If he was so strong, why did he need to Overlords to train him? I think a better concept to the character would be was to have Dai Shi become tempted to lead his army as a figurehead like Gruumm in SPD and have him collect fear for him so that he could grow stronger. When Grizzaka comes in and the Overlord turn on him, it could be interpreted that the Overlords want to be the one to lead Dai Shi's army.
Spirit Rangers
A really great concept Jungle Fury had but wasn't executed to a better extent was the creation of the Spirit Rangers. I think these three should have been students to the three masters that go with the certain animal spirit. If they wanted to make them evil, they could've had the same plot where the three masters get captured but change it to them getting forced to fight for the Dai Shi Clan.
I think Jungle Fury is an adequate season with the first half being "meh" and the second half being "awesome". However, there are things that could have been improved upon but hey, at least all the rangers get development unlike Mystic Force where only the Red Rangers gets focus.
